General Information

I take my responsibilities seriously with regards to the collection, processing and management of your personal data. I manage your personal data with respect always. I may update this Privacy Notice from time-to-time by posting a new version on my website www.counsellingforhealthandwellbeing.co.uk. You should check this page occasionally to ensure you are happy with any changes.

Personal Data

Personal data is information relating to an identifiable living individual. Whenever personal data is processed, collected, recorded, stored or disposed of it must be done within the terms of the Data Protection Act (DPA).  The DPA and other information rights laws set out your rights regarding your personal information, how organisations should carry out direct marketing and how you can access information from public authorities. From May 25th 2018, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into effect and I have registered and will be complying in line with the new regulations on processing your data as follows:

I process personal information to enable me to provide mental health counselling and to maintain my accounts and records. I process information about my clients relevant to the above reasons/purposes. This information may include:

·         personal details

·         family, lifestyle and social circumstances

·         services

·         financial details

·         employment and education details

 

I also process sensitive classes of information that may include:

·         physical or mental health details

·         racial or ethnic origin

·         religious or other beliefs of a similar nature

·         offences and alleged offences

 

Who the information may be shared with

I sometimes need to share the personal information I process with the individual themself and on some occasions also with other organisations. Where this is necessary I am required to comply with all aspects of the Data Protection Act (DPA). What follows is a description of the types of organisations I may need to share some of the personal information I process with for one or more reasons. Sharing of your personal data will be with your consent unless there is a safeguarding concern why this would be unadvisable.

Where necessary or required I share information with:

·         healthcare professionals (including my clinical supervisor where anonymity is ensured)

·         central government

·         family, associates and representatives of the person whose personal data we are processing

·         educators

 

Your paper data will be held in a locked filing system and your electronic data will be password encrypted. Your data will be anonymous where possible. Correspondence emails may be printed and added to your paper file but are deleted once responded to. I hold paper data for a period of six years and this is then confidentiality destroyed. Electronic data is destroyed when we end work together.

Use of My Website

I am committed to safeguarding the privacy of my website visitors, and I do not collect, store or use any personal data regarding your visit to this website. I use personal information that you may send to me via the Contact page in order to contact you only where necessary to respond to your query. I do not store or process any such information, and I do not pass it on to any 3rd party.
